Welcome to Lake Louise, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the magnificent jewel of Banff National Park. It is consistently acclaimed the most scenic ski area on the planet, and legendary for light, dry, champagne powder, impossibly bright blue skies and an astounding 4,200 acres to explore. If you combine all of this with outstanding training and the most competitive wages in the area, you have found the ultimate job.
Full-time seasonal employees of the Lake Louise Ski Area (LLSA) are offered affordable, subsidized shared staff accommodation in either company owned housing or a resort-leased property located in and around the Lake Louise area.
All employees are required to sign a Tenancy Agreement outlining the rules and regulations of LLSA Staff Accommodation and are required to pay a security deposit of $200 upon check in, no exceptions.
Staff transportation is provided from all of our accommodations to the resort on a set schedule, and this can take up to 15 minutes to reach Lake Louise Ski Resort from Lake Louise Staff Housing.
48 hours before your first day of work. The housing office is open seven days a week, and check-in times are between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. If you are arriving in Lake Louise after 5:30 pm you will need to organize your accommodation for the evening. You must present your criminal record check and picture ID at the time of check-in.
Employs over 550 staff during the winter season. The area does 60% of its annual income in the Summer as it is way more accessible during the summer months (much safer to drive and the temperature is very pleasant).
This location comes with shared staff housing with options for couples in another location 15-20 mins down the Hwy. Staff housing is in the township of Lake Louise which is roughly 7 mins from the resort. There is a staff bus that runs regularly to transport crew to and from. Rooms are generally 2-4 people per room with either single beds or bunk beds. Housing is allocated by Lake Louise, once you have a job contract is when you can put in any requests of who you want to live with.
Lake Louise does not offer much in the way of nightlife at the resort. Lake Louise is a tiny blimp on the map. The township consists of a liquor store, 2 x petrol stations, cafe, pretty small bar, retail store and a small grocery store. There is a staff bar that the staff will frequent however if you want to be amongst the action Banff is an hour down the road. You can book a night in Banff for your days off or weekends.
Saturation of Aussies is moderate to high.
This place gets VERY cold in the winter. Temps can get down to -30 on a regular basis during the winter.
Lake Louise has a range of outdoor and indoor roles. guest services, lift operations (must be able to ski to an intermediate level) , retail, food & beverage, rentals, parking, cleaning.
For those looking to climb the management ladder, you will need to stick around for back to back seasons.
This resort offers a ski pass with your employment.
This resort is the largest ski resort in the Rockies. Has 4200 acres of skiable terrain. The powder skiing here is incredible, not to mention the most epic views of the Canadian Rockies. The resort also has epic terrain parks. If you are a park hound, this is going to be great for you.
Reciprocal benefits to other local ski areas for full time employees. Sunshine Village & Norquay are the mountains that are typically where your staff pass will give you access. Clarify with management if there are any ‘blackout’ days for these other resorts before traveling to them.
Lots of staff choose to purchase a Big 3 ski pass for the season which will give them regular access to all 3 mountains in the area.
Lake Louise is 40 mins from Banff and roughly 1.45/hrs from Calgary airport. The resort of Lake Louise is a 7 min drive from the township of Lake Louise.
The TWHC will assist with your first season's contract. The ball is in your court – we help you get the job, you need to work hard to keep it. Ongoing extension of contracts are based on seasonal performance and at the determination of management, as is Housing. If in doubt – ask your manager. Lake Louise operates a summer operation and should your performance be amazing during your season, you could expect to be asked about extending your contract.
