Most common questions

No Ski Pass is provided by the Fairmont Chateau Japser. This is more of a remote location compared to Banff Springs or Lake Louise. However the hotel offers significantly discounted tickets/passes for staff to Marmot Basin which is only 30 minutes away and has 7 Ski Lifts and over 90 runs. The cost of this can be deducted from your wages over the season (payroll deduction).

Located in the heart of Jasper National Park, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge offers a quintessentially Canadian experience. The town of Jasper is cited as “Canada’s Cabin Capital” and Jasper Park Lodge leans into this nickname with their luxurious cabin-style rooms.

While gaining incredible hospitality experience with a world-class brand, employees of the lodge also love to take advantage of the outdoor lifestyle Jasper allows. This includes skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating and cross country skiing in the winters. In the summer’s time is spent hiking, camping, biking and paddling the pristine emerald lakes surrounding the lodge.

Jasper Park Lodge has refined their colleague benefits program to ensure you are getting the most of your time with us. This includes, subsidized staff accommodation, daily meals in our staff cafeteria, discounts at hotel restaurants, our spa and golf course, discounted travel at Fairmont and Accor properties in Canada and around the globe and much more.

9 out of 10 positions at this hotel are back of house, namely housekeeping or cleaning. If you're not willing to consider these roles, don't apply for a hotel position. Without hotel experience, you'll likely be offered a back of house job. If you're not willing to do a housekeeping role, the employer probably won't want you. The competition for front of house roles is very high, so selecting a back of house role increases your chances of being hired. Work hard and you'll be promoted.

  • Hard working
  • Physically fit
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Able to take direction from both males and females
  • Flexible with working hours as some roles may start early and or late in the day
  • Happy to give any role a crack with a positive attitude
  • Those looking for career moves in the hotel industry
  • Recognise that working back of house gives applicants a better perspective for when they get promoted to front of house roles. They understand how the back of house operations affects the front of house and vice -versa. Way more effective leaders and managers because of their back of house experience.

Minimal – Your best chance to cut a rug or at least have a range of bars would be to head in to the township of Jasper, which is a 10min car ride away. Jasper is small but the bars can get lively after a certain hour of night!

Saturation of Aussies is small

The temperature during the summer is lovely but can get nippy as soon as the sun dips below the mountains. In the winter this location can get down to -20 on a regular basis

Predominantly housekeeping and back of house roles. There are limited front facing roles in the front of house for experienced hotel front desk applicants and a range of front and back of house food and beverage roles. The range and number of roles changes from season to season based on the number of returning staff.

This employer is world renown so it will look great on your resume. For those looking to climb the management ladder, you will need to stick around for back to back seasons. Keep in mind Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is part of the Accor Group who operate various hotels around the world. Should your performance be outstanding you could transfer to an employer in your home country. Those wanting to start a career in hotels…our recommendation is start in Housekeeping. Why? Simply because when you get to be a front desk or hotel manager you will have complete appreciation and understanding of how the back of house operates. You have the opportunity here to transfer to other Canadian locations like Lake Louise, Banff or Whistler.

No. This property does offer a range of staff benefits – see Benefits Tab

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is a 10min drive from the local township of Jasper. The closest major airport would be Edmonton, which is 4hr drive, or you are 5hrs from Calgary international airport. This location is quite remote and great for those wanting to immerse themselves into nature.

The TWHC will assist with your first seasons contract. The ball is in your court – we help you get the job, you need to work hard to keep it. Ongoing extension of contracts are based on seasonal performance and at the determination of management, as is housing. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge operates year round.

If your looking for an authentic Canadian experience, here ya go! The property is in a remote location which is suited to loads of wildlife spotting! This is a busy location but it is way less frantic as it is in its out in the middle of what feels like no-where! UNREAL!

If your looking for a new career – here you go! You can also internally transfer within the Fairmont network of hotels based on your performance every season!!! Once your visa expires, transfer back to your home country within the ACCOR Group network!

Due to its location and known stature on the tourist circuit, this place is busy…especially in the summer with grey nomads on organised tours! There really isnt much in the way of negatives…its pretty killer.
