Ski Pass: A free season lift pass is not provided by The Fairmont Chateau Banff Springs. However, the Hotel provides a payment plan –  where they will purchase your ski pass from Lake Louise upfront and you can have this cost deducted from your wages (payroll deduction). As the hotel offers higher wages than working directly for the Ski Resort you will find this more than covers the cost of your pass being deducted.

Double Occupancy Rooms

These open concept, dorm-style rooms feature a ¾ wall separating the bedroom area from the living room area. They may accommodate up to two people and include a private bathroom with a stand up shower plus a kitchenette with a fridge, stove, sink and cupboard space. The size of the unit is approximately 392 sq ft.

Ski Hill Transportation
Fairmont Banff Springs is surrounded by three iconic Canadian ski hills, Mt. Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise Ski Resort. Daily shuttles run from outside of staff accommodation to each of these hills throughout the winter.

Complimentary Daily Meal
One complimentary meal is provided on each working day in our staff cafeteria. Additional meals can be purchased for $4.00.

Helpful Stats on The Fairmont Banff Springs

Size of Hotel: This property boasts 750 rooms.

Staff Housing: The Fairmont Banff Springs comes with on site staff housing. Rooms are usually 2 per room with single beds and awesome facilities for staff. Housing is allocated by The Fairmont. Once you have a job contract is when you can send through any requests of who you want to live with.

Nightlife:  Banff is only a 20 mins walk away which boasts various clubs, bars and plenty of evening activities. This is where all the action is!!

Aussie saturation: Saturation of Aussies is high, Banff is a very popular area.

Temperature: The temperature during the summer is lovely but can get nippy as soon as the sun dips below the mountains. In the winter this location can get down to -20 on a regular basis

Job roles available: Predominantly housekeeping and back of house roles. There are limited front facing roles in the front of house for experienced hotel front desk applicants and a range of front and back of house food and beverage roles. The range and number of roles changes from season to season based on the number of returning staff.

Career progression: This employer is world renown so it will look great on your resume. For those looking to climb the management ladder, you will need to stick around for back to back seasons. Keep in mind Fairmont Banff Springs is part of the Accor Group who operate various hotels around the world. Should your performance be outstanding you could transfer to an employer in your home country. Those wanting to start a career in hotels…our recommendation is start in Housekeeping. Why? Simply because when you get to be a front desk or hotel manager you will have complete appreciation and understanding of how the back of house operates.

You also have the opportunity to transfer to other Fairmont locations like Whistler, Jasper or Lake Louise.

Ski Pass: No – This property does offer a range of staff benefits (please see our website). However staff are offered to salary sacrifice for an upfront ski pass to one of the Big 3 mountains and pay it off.

Location: Banff Springs is just out of Banff township is an easy 4mind drive or 20min walk in to town. Banff is around 1.5hrs from Calgary airport

Ongoing employment: The TWHC will assist with your first seasons contract. The ball is in your court – we help you get the job, you need to work hard to keep it. Ongoing extension of contracts are based on seasonal performance and at the determination of management, as is housing. Fairmont Banff Springs operates year round.

Why go here? Its hard to think of a reason not to! Banff is beautiful. The property is a massive castle…whats not to like! Much like Whistler, this place is super busy and a magnet for those wanting killer photos and to tick off their life BINGO card! The very central location and staff benefits is a big draw card for staff. Being a 5 star hotel chain the wages are competitive and you have the opportunity for tips.

If your looking for a new career – here you go! You can also internally transfer within the Fairmont network of hotels based on your performance every season!!! Once your visa expires, transfer back to your home country within the ACCOR Group network!

Why to avoid this place? Due to its location and known stature on the tourist circuit, this place is busy…especially in the summer with grey nomads on organised tours! There really isn’t much in the way of negatives…its pretty killer.

When the winer rolls around this may not be the place to be!
