LIFT OPERATOR

OVERVIEW

Start Dates: Various start dates… late October, early November, late November
Salary: $9.75/hour, depending on the resort

Description

Lift Operators provide an outstanding experience for our guests. They are responsible for safely loading and unloading guests from the chair lifts as well as answering guest queries. This position requires a lot of physical labour including holding chairs, physically assisting guests, chipping and shoveling snow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide outstanding guest service
  • Assist and direct guests on and off chairlifts in a safe, professional, and efficient manner
  • Monitor and assess guests’ needs by slowing chairlifts down for their safety and enjoyment
  • Shovel snow, chip ice and sweep chairs in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform daily lift checks, complete, timely logs, accident, and avalanche reports
  • Effective communication via phones & at times radios, including prompt emergency notification to dispatch
  • Maintain safety and operating guidelines of lifts and lift ramps as per Z-98 Code requirements
  • Some resorts require staff to complete and pass a written exam
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

  • Passion for providing outstanding guest service
  • Being physically fit is an advantage
  • Fluent English proficiency
  • Positive and friendly attitude
  • Ability to self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must own, or be willing to buy, own skis or snowboard to get to lift locations around the mountain
  • Some resorts have a minimum requirement of an intermediate level skiing/riding ability
