Dating back to the early 16th century, Stanbrook Abbey Hotel, a former Grade II listed monastery which lives on through the original architecture – from the dramatic stone cloisters to the gothic stained-glass windows – offers guests a chance to experience a unique taste of what life in an abbey was once like.
A recent £4.2m renovation, meticulously designed to celebrate the country house hotel’s heritage, introduced the new brasserie-style dining experience in The Refectory restaurant, situated in the site of the original nun’s cafeteria, as well as eight new bedrooms situated on the second floor with a further seven rooms built in the original schoolhouse in St Anne’s Wing, bringing the total number of bedrooms to 70.
