Helpful Statistics on Revelstoke Mountain Resort
Size of resort: Employs over 200 staff during the winter season. This place started off just a local favourite but in recent years has been discovered by the wider public and is now a definite stop on the ‘big mountain’ road trip.
Staff Housing: Location comes with shared staff housing. The housing location is in the township of Revelstoke, roughly 6kms from the resort. All rooms are shared and generally 2-4 people per room with bunk beds or single beds. Housing is allocated by Revelstoke and once you have a job contract is when you can send through any requests of who you want to live with.
Nightlife: Pretty chilled township…no nightclubs but a range of bars that can crank up later in the evening.
Aussie saturation: Saturation of Aussies is moderate
Temperature: The middle mountain average temperature can be anywhere between -5 to -15 depending on the time of year.
Roles: Servers, Lift operations (must be intermediate or advanced skier or rider), limited guest service & ski school sales, custodial, housekeeping, restaurant host, cook, retail & various hotel roles.
Career progression: For those looking to climb the management ladder, you will need to stick around for back to back seasons.
Ski Pass: This resort offers a ski pass with your employment.
Size of Terrain: This resort is 3121 acres of skiable terrain
Reciprocal pass options: The resort is also a member of the ‘Mountain Collective’ where your staff pass will give you access to ski/ride…but before planning a road trip clarify with managers for any ‘blackout’ dates. These reciprocal relations-ships tend to change annually so check with management what new relationships have been created.
Location: Not the easiest of resorts to get to if you don’t have a car. Its just over a 6hour car ride from Vancouver. The closest airport is Kelowna international and from there, around 2.15hrs. Once you have arrived at Revelstoke you can access the mountain easily by bus, however many people choose to purchase cars for roadtrips etc.
Ongoing employment: The TWHC will assist with your first seasons contract. The ball is in your court – we help you get the job, you need to work hard to keep it. Ongoing extension of contracts are based on seasonal performance and at the determination of management, as is housing. If in doubt – ask your manager.
Why go here? Revelstoke is a lovely, small country town with a bloody big ski mountain!! This location offers lots in the way of skiing and riding options. The location is brilliant both in summer and winter with loads of activities in both seasons. If you are looking to avoid the big crowds and Aussies and get some epic snow. This is a great spot.
Why to avoid this place? This location isn’t easy to get to and from. During the winter this location can be cut off due to landslides and avalanches on the main hwy. For some this town might be too small…. again you are looking to avoid the big crowds and Aussie. This is a great spot.
